The world’s first national intranet for education

August 16, 2009

I’ve just been reading about “glow” a new project just getting underway in Scotland. It’s funded through National Lottery funding, and looks set to do a good deal of research and demonstration before it’s full set up, which I think is great. I’m still to have a good look round the glow website but I’m pretty interested in the way this project develops.

“A pioneering new initiative to bring arts education resources online for schools across Scotland has been launched by the Scottish Arts Council and Learning Teaching Scotland through Glow, the world’s first national intranet for education.” Read the full article at the Scottish Arts Council Website here.

Hi Rachel – glad you are finding our project interesting. It’s exciting times here in Scotland – we started rolling out ‘Glow’ the national intranet for schools about two years ago to our 800,000 stakeholders, and this year sees the beginning of this great initiative between the Scottish Arts Council and Learning and Teaching Scotland to bring the work of arts organisations and schools closer together. Kep checking out the blog posts from Julia to keep up to date with the progress 🙂

Hi Rachel, thank you for spreading the word. The Glow Arts Project will bring some of Scotland’s most exciting arts organisations together with learners and teachers to explore innovative approaches to using Glow for learning through the arts. The Call for Proposals goes out this week and we expect to be announcing the successful projects towards the end of the year. As Andrew says, I’ll be blogging to update on project progress. All best, Julia
